Ghanaian rapper Medikal has big plans to deepen connections between the UK and Afrobeats music culture after selling out the middle section of his much-anticipated London O2 Arena show on May 3, 2024. Despite the fact that Afrobeats has become a worldwide sensation in the past ten years and has penetrated mainstream music in several places, Medikal clarified that he still sees unrealized growth potential in London.
‘This show is going to be legendary, not just for me but for Afrobeats as a whole. I see my performance as a milestone event to spotlight Afrobeats for my British fans’ he explained in an interview with Merqury Quaye on Hitz FM.
Fans should anticipate more from Medikal than simply a typical artist; comedy and entertainment will be featured in addition to music, he stated.
In an effort to establish a link between his fans in the diaspora and the upbeat, contagious rhythms of Afrobeats, Medikal has selected a set list of top performers from the genre. He intends to incorporate his upbeat song collection with well-known tunes from genre stylists.
Excitement over Medikal’s bridging goal is already building, given the quick sell-out of premier floor tickets for the next event.
Thousands of new London fans would be moved by the Afrobeats culture by the end of the evening.
